Root River Spring Paddle

Explore Racine’s urban wilderness and historic industrial district by boat!

Join us for the Annual Root River Spring Paddle on Sunday, July 19th 2015, 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM. This fun family event features a gentle paddle from the REC (1301 W. Sixth Street) to Island Park for a picnic and live music, and then back. Registration is limited to 100 people. The deadline for registration is Friday July 17th, 2015 or 100 people – which ever comes first!

For safety purposes and in case of an emergency, we need to know the names and contact information of each person in your watercraft. -WAIVER INFO-

You have to sign a waiver to participate in this paddling event. Download the form HERE, read and sign it and turn it when you arrive at Island Park for check-in. Copies of the waiver form will also be distributed before you board the shuttle van at the North Beach Parking Lot. Paddlers must submit a signed waiver at check-in to participate in the Root River Spring Paddle. If you have a minor (child under 18 years) in your watercraft, the legal guardian must sign the waiver. If you are not the legal guardian, download and print the waiver and get it signed by the child’s parent or legal guardian and turn it in at check-in.

  • BYOB PFD? – Bringing your own Boat and PFDs? volunteers will help unload and watch over them.
  • Reserving a watercraft? Please register online.
  • Have your own PFD but no boat? Bring it with!
3:30­4:00 PM ­Paddle Begins
We’re happy to give you a push in the right direction! Volunteers will assist paddlers with launching their watercraft. A brief canoeing/kayaking orientation and equipment
check will be given before you launch on your adventure!
Enjoy your paddle to Island Park for a picnic dinner with beverages and live music.! Volunteers will  assist your landing at the canoe launch, and watch over your equipment, and assist in launching you
back in the river.
6:30 PM 
Paddlers should  arrive back at the REC.
